I’ve been wandering around since May
October 20th 2021 - By Rex Hohlbein
Lily lives/survives in a tent. She’s worried sick about making it through the coming winter. It’s only October and she’s already exhausted and cold. As we talk she rubs her hands together, her fingers are white and numb. Through tears she laughs and says, “I’m a hot mess.”
Recently her father, who was her best friend, the only person that really understood her, committed suicide. It took her legs out from under her and she hasn’t been able to recover. Her mother and her don’t get along, at all, and her siblings can’t relate to her journey. She’s alone.
She’s also smart and super aware about life’s bigger picture. I’ve known her for only a short bit but her insights and views about the world already have me stopping and thinking. She has lots to share and wants to too, saying, “People need to know what is really going on out here. Everyone is hurting.” I am recording Lily and will be sharing about her life on this page.
For now I am asking if people can meet some of her immediate needs, which is clothing. Lily is a skinny 5’-11” tall woman. She could use sweaters & shirts size small, a warm waterproof jacket size medium, cotton Long Johns, and jeans in the 2-4 size. Lastly, some sturdy boots in the 9 ½ to 10 size.
Before I leave Lily says, “Thanks for listening, I really appreciate it. It’s hard to tell your feelings to someone who is also living in a tent, struggling to keep it together just as much as you are.”
UPDATE!!! - The goal has been met! Thank you for so much love from the community. If you can help Lily out with supplies, you can mail to Rex Hohlbein ℅ Lily 4001 9th Ave NE, Seattle WA 98105. Or, if you want, call me and we can discuss the best options. 206-330-1142.
